What attributes make a given monthly dividend paying stock one of the top monthly dividend paying stocks?
We have several ideas in answer to this question:
(1) Dividend Growth — a consistent history of increasing the dividend rate, and at the very least no dividend cuts, over a multi-year look-back period;
(2) Priority Dividend Payment Status — by virtue of their structures, preferred stock and exchange traded debt securities have a priority, i.e. they are
in line ahead of the common stock when it comes to being paid.
(3) Steady Dividend Rate — sometimes growth is hard to come by, but many stocks will show at least a steady dividend rate over a multi-year look-back period (i.e. the dividend rate has not been shrinking);
(4) Strong Yield — even the very "top" dividend stock wouldn't be a "buy" at too-small a yield level, so it is important to consider which
monthly dividend paying stocks offer the highest yield?
