Prior to answering the question as to which high yield monthly dividend paying stocks offer the most dividend yield, first we have to address the matter of whether each stock's dividend is actually steady (or shrinking, or growing). If a given high yield monthly dividend paying stock offers, on paper, a current yield of, say, 10%, but meanwhile the monthly dividend amount has actually been falling over time (or if the monthly amount is variable and "bounces around") then should we really "count" that super-high yield as with the same weight as compared to a hypothetical peer that has a lower current yield but maintains a history of dividend growth?

We had this question in our minds when we put together this page, and what we decided is that you'll most want to see just the subset of our coverage universe of monthly dividend paying stocks which have paid a steady or growing dividend over the past five year look-back period (if you wish to see only those stocks that have shown growth in their monthly dividends, then click here).

So, what you'll find in the list below is the group of high yield monthly dividend paying stocks where we found that the dividend rate had not been cut in the past five years. While this doesn't tell us what the next five years will look like, it still represents a great starting point, for further research — be sure to click through on any symbol to research it further (each stock has its own page with additional details, which includes a nifty chart comparing the growth of the dividend rate over time compared to the growth of the stock price).
